Who We Are
A research consultancy built on curiosity, evidence, and the African context.
The Lotus Oak Institute did not start with a business plan. It started with a question that would not go away.
Why do so many smart, capable people make decisions based on assumptions when evidence is available? And why, when AI tools arrived promising to change everything, did the problem get worse instead of better? Everyone was using the tools. Nobody was being shown how they actually work.
That gap is what Lotus Oak exists to close.
We are a boutique AI research consultancy helping individuals and organisations replace assumptions with evidence and make clearer, more defensible decisions. Our work sits at the intersection of research methodology, AI tools, and the African context because the tools being built for the world are often not being built with us in mind, and that matters.
The institute was founded by Stacy Bett, a PhD researcher in Organisational Leadership at PAC University, Kenya, specialising in educational technology. Her research examines how AI tools can transform the postgraduate research experience in African universities, not by replacing the thinking, but by freeing up more space for it. That question has been the thread running through nearly a decade of work at the intersection of curiosity, technology, and learning.
We believe research is not a credential. It is a way of thinking. And that belongs to everyone.
We believe AI should support your thinking. Not replace it.
And we believe Africa does not lack brilliant thinkers. It lacks the tools and structures to make that brilliance visible at the speed the world demands.
That is what we are building toward. One brief, one session, one conversation at a time.
Stay curious.
